Gamstop notes increase in under-25 self-exclusion.

In the second half of 2024 Gamstop has recorded a 31% rise in registrations among 16–24 year olds.
Reflecting a rising trend of young people seeking self-exclusion solutions to control their gambling tendencies, under-25s accounted for almost one in four (24%) of all new Gamstop registrants.
Gamstop has also published regional statistics for the first time, stressing the locations with largest registrant proportion.
With 1.5% of the local population registered, Hull ranked highest on the list; Teesside and Sunderland came second at 1.4%.
Top five areas with highest self-exclusion rates also included Doncaster and Blackpool.
The second half of 2024's most users (48%) chose the five-year longest self-exclusion period that is now in effect.
Based on customer comments, Gamstop recently added a new "5 years with auto-renewal" option to let people extend their exclusion free from human interaction.
Commenting on the latest figures, Gamstop CEO Fiona Palmer said: "The increase in the number of under-25s registering for Gamstop has become an accelerating trend, with a 31% year-on-year increase in the second half of 2024, following a 12% increase in the first half of the year.
"We keep stressing so much on working with Ygam and Gamcare reaching out to kids since this group clearly needs focused instruction and support.
"We go to where they are to ensure they are aware of tools, such self-exclusion, which can help to prevent gambling damage."
